How did The Simpsons, one of the most popular TV shows in history, go from being attacked by many religious leaders for its lack of family values to being called one of the most theologically relevant programs in prime time? Each week we’ll watch one or two episodes and discuss what religious themes lie at the heart of the story.

CROP Walk (Grades 6-12)

The Madison Area CROP Hunger Walk/Rock Event is one of 1,800 interfaith, community CROP events taking place around the country this year with the theme - We Walk Because They Walk. Wisconsin sponsors 70-75 CROP events each year, raising over $650,000 to help fight hunger. The 1.5 or 3.5 mile CROP Walk will begin and end at Christ Presbyterian Church at 944 East Gorham Street. Registration begins at 12:45 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall with a short welcome at 1:15 p.m. and the event start at 1:30 p.m.

All middle and high school students are invited to check out the church’s new Nintendo Wii on Thursday, November 13, from 4-6 p.m. in Friendship Hall. We’ll have fun bowling, playing tennis and baseball with members of the congregation who are 55 or older. In fact, we need YOU to come help show the adults how to use the Wii! There’s no cost, but please sign up at the Information Center so we know you are coming.

December 5-7: LYO High School Youth Gathering: Living' it Up With Jesus

This weekend will be packed with great opportunities - from large group sessions with musical guests 100 White Flags and the 2nd Annual Lutheran Olympics - to small group discussions and staying up all night with friends, both old and new. We will also have LYO elections to the Board of Directors.
You will have a chance to hear from Bishop Bruce Burnside who you will find passionate and inspiring about what it can mean to live with Jesus.
Our guest speaker is Wes Halula, who has a gift for using humor to help audiences understand serious truths and grapple with difficult isssues. He is known for being able to hold the attendtion of his audience while communicating truths to hundreds of middle and high school students.
The cost for this amazing weekend is $125 per person. The price includes hotel, all meals, workshops, music, and a t-shirt.

We’ll worship together at the 5 p.m. Saturday evening service before heading to Ultrazone Laser Tag. Cost is $25. Two small group advisors are needed to help with transportation and supervision. Sign up by November 23. Minimum 10 students
